SWAM POLICY ON AIDS
PREVIOUS PROJECTS

Current Projects

  1. Medical Outreach to Liberia.
  2. Shona Bible distribution to Zimbabwe.
  3. Alpha Cottages orphanage irrigation project.
  4. Zimbabew food distribution.

Our Greatest Challenges
  1. Hunger - The combined death of war, malaria, Tuberculoses and AIDS is still less than those dying of Hunger in Africa. Indeed poverty and hunger is nothing to romanticize, it is a existential phenomenon. It destroys the lives of millions of people in our region and indeed a huge task for the church.
  2. Crime, poverty and related socio economic problems
  3. Role of Western Churches is extremely important to encourage local believers and to Strengthen local and international relationships to work towards transformation and services

Looking at the current situations in our region one would expect SWAM and it's church partners to stand up and face the challenges of the region. Unfortunately there are some obstacles in the way. Your assistance can now equip us to serve as we should and to help those affected in our region! To enable us to do projects in this huge area and to quickly and effectively respond to the ever growing need among believers in our region we desperately need a response vehicle, trailer and three satellite phones.

This project will be a joined venture between:

A) congregations in South Africa and Namibia , B) SWAM

The idea is to be a visible symbol of unity and hope as we attend to those in need in our region.

South Africa

Financial and other support towards operational needs of congregations and families. We focus on uplifting of communities through outreach and other activities together with the local church.

The alarming high rate of violent crime and other injustices in some areas compelled us not only to speak out against it, but also to minister and reach out to those believers and relatives affected thereby. Integral part of our vision is therefor to interact with fellow Christians and to be a visible symbol of hope and encouragement wherever it is needed.

Namibia

Relief and development projects at congregations in the region. As well as funding for operational needs of the Rural Bushman Congregations of the Grootfontein region.

Food security remains an issue in some regions of Namibia. SWAM has an annual food shipment in partnership with Fraser Valley Gleaners. based out of Canada.

Supplying agricultural needs as well as ongoing management of projects together with congregations
Supplying rural congregations with cattle as well as water.

Together with Samaritan's Purse and the national Leadership Team in Namibia we are hoping to deliver 6000 OCC Shoebox Gifts in the spring of 2007.

Luhebu Bushman Congregations in Namibia

Angola

Together with our partners we focus on relief and development Projects like clean drinking water as well as general involvement in the lives of fellow believers

The lack of clean drinking water in Southern Angola also leads to diarrhoeal diseases which is further transmitted through (animal) contaminated water and poor hygiene practices.
The children is also the most vulnerable to this conditions.

Something like a water could not only change someone’s life but also change a whole community and the way the receive the Gospel.

.We also continue to help families after the war has ended and the region has regained relative calm.

A big part of our focus in southern Angola is providing basic medical care.

If you are interested in any of the above or any other general missions and church involvement in our region.
