How do we do it

The local church is well integrated in society and thus forms a good network to implement projects. To teach Christian aspects like respect, love, care, compassion, reconciliation and other important values through the church could only prosper the region. The stability and network together with the credible history and accountability of well established churches assure sustainability and success rate of teachings and projects. However it is still important to look for a good reputation among local (different viewpoint) Christians in the area and cooperation and affiliation with national church bodies.

SWAM always partner with the local church to implement our projects. However in some exceptions we may partner with ministries affiliated and approved by the local church. In these cases we will however still primarily deal through the local church. We are careful and avoid dealing with "lone rangers" who compete and tend to by-pass local churches. We are very careful when financing projects. This is to avoid creating the assumption that believers need only rely on distant benefactors rather than learn to give sacrificially. It is also to avoid creating jealousies in the local Christian community. We don't send funds directly to individuals without having a performance agreement and means of accountability.

We also don't allow money to become the most highly valued resource. It is also important for us not to give resources based only on needs, but rather try to define specific projects within needs. We look for clear goals and policies with achievable objectives and then combine that with capable personnel to successful carry out and implement these objectives

We are involved in humanitarian matters within the communities because we want to serve and not necessarily because we want to please people or the media. It is important for us to have the right motives in our work. We do so because Scripture ask from us to care, have compassion and carry each other's burdens.
